What time does the Nursery start and finish?

Our Nursery sessions are 8.40am to 11.40am & 12.40pm to 3.40pm with the additional option of staying for lunch from 11.40am to 12.40pm. Children who stay at the Nursery for a full day are able to have a school lunch at a cost of £2.41 per day or can bring a packed lunch from home.

    Is wraparound care available?

Wraparound care is available from 7.30am to 6pm and is run by LBL, a fantastic childcare provider with whom we have worked for many years.  The sessions take place in the school and are run by a consistent team of staff.  More information can be found here: https://www.littleladybirdslondon.com.

Do the children in the Nursery wear school uniform?

Children in the Nursery are not expected to wear school uniform but we suggest that they wear clothes that are practical and easy to wash!

What are the settling in arrangements for the children?

Settling in to Nursery is a very important time for children and their families and we aim to make this process as smooth as possible.  We know that all children and families are unique and we make sure that their individual needs are taken into account during the settling in process.

Chidren's entry into Nursery is staggered to make sure that staff have the time to welcome and get to know every child.  Staff will carefully guide parents and carers through the process to make the transition as smooth as possible.

How does the Nursery team monitor the children’s progress and how is this shared with parents and carers?

Every child is allocated a Key Worker who monitors and supports the child’s progress and shares their observations with parents and carers via Tapestry, a secure online learning journal.

Parent/carer meetings take place in the autumn and spring terms and the staff are also happy to discuss each child’s progress on a more ad hoc basis.

What if my child has special needs?

We are an inclusive school and we welcome all children.  Our Inclusion Leader, Hannah Taylor, is highly experienced and is always happy to meet with parents and carers to discuss specific concerns.  We also have a number of staff in the Nursery who have years of experience in providing specialist support for children with SEND.

What if my child has English as an Additional Language (EAL)?

Kate Tench, a member of our Senior Leadership Team, is our EAL Leader and supports the children with EAL.  All children are assessed when they start school so that we can determine their knowledge and understanding of the English language and their progress will be carefully tracked by working with the children directly or supporting the teaching staff in the classroom.

    How can parents get involved?

Every parent and carer at the school is a member of the Martin Home School Association (MHSA) and everyone is welcome to get involved.   Please speak to a member of the school office team for more information.
